How to be a Guardian tennis writer: 1) Check Billie Jean’s Twitter page. 2) That’s it.

The Guardian gets the tennis world’s reaction to Serena Williams’ antics at the US Open 180 degrees arse-backwards, as usual:

Tennis players past and present have rallied behind Serena Williams after she claimed the sport was riddled by sexism following an extraordinary on-court tirade at an umpire during the US Open women’s final.

But the only past tennis player they quote is… Billie Jean King. Whose view is, shall we say, a tad biased.

If the Guardian held a tennis tournament, only Billie Jean King and Martina Navratlova would be allowed to enter, and they’d call it ‘The People’s Tournament’.

  1. If Williams really fights for equality, as she claims, why Isn’t she demanding that women play 5 sets rather than the 3 they play at present. After all, they demanded, and got, the same level of prize money.
