One of the last posts I did at the late lamented Counting Cats was about the KGB defector Anatoliy Golitsyn and his “revelation” of the Sino-Soviet “long-term strategy”, under which the famed Split was a blind, and the simultaneous liberalization of China’s economy and the winding down of the Soviet empire were part of a deliberate plan to rehabilitate Communism in the eyes of the West.

    I said then that I don’t know what to make of him. Senior intelligence figures called him a fantasist and a conspiracy theorist. However, it can’t be denied that in the second decade of the 21st Century, whether he made them up out of whole cloth or not, his theories sound uncomfortably close to home.

  2. Blaming the lack of product differentiation, so to speak, for the failure of one product in relation to it’s competition is self-evidently false.

    The West is slowly dying because the Westerners are too wealthy and unserious to care.
