Even if No Deal happens, will this Remainer Parliament still try to sign us up to a bad deal?

We’ve all been assuming that if No Deal happens, and we leave with a WTO exit, then that’s it. We’re out – hooray! – and there’s nothing the Remainers can do. It’s not like we could just go straight back in again.

But on the principle that there is now no tactic so low and dirty and anti-democratic that Remainers would not touch it, shouldn’t we be expecting that even if No Deal happens on Oct 31 (or some later date) the Remainers would try to use their majority to get us enmeshed with the EU as much as possible, and as soon as possible? Not as full EU members, because that can’t be done just like that. But could we expect them to force us to sign some further humiliating surrender agreement, where we agree to pay the EU vast amounts of money and let them rule over us, in return for very little?

I think they would. So even getting a No Deal exit would not be the end of the battle.

  1. Given the antics to date, I don’t doubt they will work like demons to sell themselves, and the UK to the EU inch by inch at every opportunity. It’s going to be a question of stamina.
